Smith Art Gallery is a purpose built Victorian Art Gallery open from 1907 and houses the town library. The building is set in a small park area on the edge of Brighouse only 0.5 miles from Brighouse Town Centre and 1.6 mile from Holiday Inn Leeds Brighouse.
Victorian paintings make up the permanent exhibit in the front gallery with works by Atkinson Grimshaw, Marcus Stone and Thomas Sydney Cooper. The gallery specialise in showing the works of local and regional artist and hosts temporary exhibits throughout the year.
The museum has limited complimentary onsite parking however ample parking can be found in Brighouse Town Centre along with Brighouse Bus Station.
From 6th December 2014 to 21st February 2015 the featured exhibit will be Pirates!
Rumbustious adventure and treasure await the whole family at this great exhibition.
Among the exhibit, award winning author Chris Mould's illustrations from 'Pirates 'n' Pistols' are on display.
Sparks Half Term Fun* - On Monday 16th February, there be pirate tales, sea shanties, sword making and creating the most important of the pirates accessories, me pirate hat. 11am - 12pm, 1pm - 2pm, 2pm - 3pm.
