Looking to fit some shopping in during your visit to the town of Halifax? The Woolshops have a variety of over 40 stores and cafes. They range from fashion and home-wear, to cafés and local independent businesses.
The 'Woolshops' name comes from traders, known as staplers, who sold wool by the stone and not the bale. This allowed local weavers to purchase the smaller quantities of wool needed to produce cloth in their homes.
It is believed to be the only street in the world called this and has a mention in the 1555 Act of Parliament.
You can walk to the Woolshops from Halifax Railway station, the Bus station, or park in one of their 300 on-site parking spaces.
