The Rex Cinema is one of the oldest purpose built cinemas since operating in the UK today, opened on 12th December 1912 and was used to show pictures and Bingo.
The Rex has received refurbishments over the Years, fitted with Pullman seats and Dolby stereo surround sound to ensure a quality performance in a traditional cinema, showing modern releases with an old fashioned half time Ice-Cream interval.
The Rex has an array of offers during the week showing Senior Screenings every Thursday morning at 10.30 including a cup of tea with a biscuit and Family matinees on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and daily during school holidays to keep the young and young at heart amused.
Concerts on the Conn 651 organ are held on the third Sunday of each month by a visiting organist and you can hear the organ before the Saturday evenings feature film and during the interval.
The cinema has received it’s share of press over the years and has been shown on TV programmes including Yorkshire TV's "Calendar", TV-AM, Film 94, Cinema Nation and Hart Davis On History.
With ample parking nearby and disabled access.
